Pleased to meet you, I am Shirley
“Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” - Confucius
I am passionate about the development of children, guiding young people into adulthood and helping people to discover their true authenticity to live fulfilled lives.
I have been coaching, mentoring and consulting since 1990. I mentored and coached bursary graduates for a two year internship period in the IT industry. It was part of a structured programme to coach young graduates into the workplace.
This coaching followed on their academic education and included e.g. communication skills; conflict management; assertiveness training; talent management; emotional maturity and life skills, etc.
I did volunteer work for A Girl Like Alice, a non profit company, that mentors and coaches disadvantaged teenage girls. I met with my coachee once per month, a 15 year old girl, who volunteered for the programme and it was an amazing journey for both of us. A comment from her that remains with me is that I kept my promises to her.
I joined Hospice Wits as a voluntary Caregiver (non medical) and had the privilege of coaching and supporting families during this period in their lives. To enable us to provide the best possible professional support, we received training twice a month at Hospice Wits.
To "test" the theory of unlocking potential, I raised a Labrador puppy, Gemma, for the Guide Dog Association of South Africa.
I qualified through the Neuro Coaching Institute for my Masteries in Coaching as a Neuro Coach Practitioner. I am also a certified mBIT Coach Practitioner.
